Home Decorating

"In order to survive as an artist you must have three things- the skin of a rhino. the tenacity of a bulldog, and a nice home to come home to" -Stella Adler

I just read this quote on the blog of an inspiring artist in Massachusetts (colorgirl.blogspot.com). I haven't gotten much art done in the past 6 months or so because most of my creative energy has been going into creating a cozy nest for me and my growing family.

We moved into this house in late October and I went into a nesting frenzy to get it comfortable for us and baby Eleanor. I've been using our old things in new ways - like turning old fabric and antique lace (from my great-great grandmother!) into a valentine's day banner for our fireplace. There is still alot that I plan to do, but there are some corners that I'm happy with.

One perk of being an artist is that I always have plenty of artwork to decorate my house with. Of course, I would prefer that someone else would buy it and enjoy it in their house, but until that happens I get to look at it. It's like a revolving gallery.

What a wonderful world that you have! I am glad that you stumbled upon me! I love all that is small, faerie-like, magical and altered! Your doll house reminds me of a theatre I made last year. I love that thing; I put a different scenario in it and light it up at night and just dream!

You are welcome to come back to dream with us; I also draw and write stories as well.

Have a pleasant day!
